In order to get married in
the State of Florida
you are required to obtain
a marriage License.

Depending on your residency status, there are
two ways to obtain a marriage license in Florida:

Florida Resident

Both parties must apply in person with valid photo identification. Residents have a choice: they can wait three days for the license to become effective or attend a premarital preparation course from a registered provider to waive the waiting period.

Non Florida Resident

Both parties must apply in person with valid photo identification. There is no waiting period for non-residents.

Duval County Court

Duval County Courthouse (501 W. Adams Street): Walk-in applications ONLY. Join the line onsite using the QR code available in the lobby of the marriage license department.

Beaches Branch at Neptune Beach (1543 Atlantic Blvd): Walk-in applications available. Join the line onsite using the QR code available in the lobby of the marriage license department.

Fees and Discounts

A marriage license in Florida costs $86.00. Couples attending a premarital preparation course from a registered counselor can receive a discount and bypass the 3-day waiting period.

Social Security Number

Provide your Social Security number during the application process. A copy of the card is not needed.

Non-U.S. Citizen Identification

Non-U.S. citizens can provide a Social Security number, alien registration number, or another form of identification if neither has been issued.
